This template implements an MCP server using n8n and LangChain, enabling AI agents to directly request up-to-date scientific data from NASA. The automation processes incoming HTTP requests from agents, dynamically substitutes parameters, and returns structured responses.
## Who it´s for
- AI agent developers integrating scientific data
- Scientific teams using automation to access NASA data
- Educational platforms demonstrating real-time space data
- Researchers of space weather and near-Earth objects
## What the automation does
- Receives requests from AI agents via HTTP webhook
- Processes queries using dedicated NASA Tool nodes
- Dynamically populates parameters from AI input using $fromAI()
- Supports 15 operations: picture of the day, asteroid data, space weather events, Earth imagery
- Returns structured responses in JSON or binary format (e.g., images)
## What´s included
- Ready-to-use workflow for n8n
- Trigger and handler logic based on HTTP API
- Integrations with NASA API and LangChain MCP Server support
- Basic text instructions for launch and adaptation
## Requirements for setup
- n8n account with workflow editing access
- NASA API key (
https://api.nasa.gov)
- Access to HTTP interface for webhook testing
## Benefits and outcomes
- Simplified integration of NASA scientific data into AI applications
- Centralized access to 15 types of space data via a single interface
- Reduced manual effort when querying external APIs
- Support for educational, research, and analytical real-time use cases
- Compatibility with LangChain and other AI agent frameworks
