• ... The game´s story continues the week-long, routine, and somewhat turbulent, run of the protagonist, "Dude," from the previous game. After seven days ago, we unleashed a full-blown apocalypse complete with a zombie invasion, a devil cow, and cats falling from the sky, our hero flees with his few belongings and his faithful dog, Champ.
The nightmare was about to be over, but as luck would have it, the wicked dog leaped out of the window after the cat, just outside the city limits, and raced back to Paradise, engulfed in flames of the apocalypse. The Dude himself crashed into a tree, where he lost consciousness for a considerable period of time. After waking up, the protagonist returns to find Champ, but a small disaster has befallen the town, which will clearly complicate the search. A nuclear explosion plunged this "wonderful" place into even greater chaos: nuclear winter, mutants, anarchy, and all that. It´s going to be a hectic week...
• The "Dude´s" bloody daily routine continues!
- Before we get into the expansion itself, let´s give the "captain" some time to shoot. After all, 12 years have passed since the game´s release. So, Postal 2 is a typical FPS (first-person shooter), where the player is destined to immerse themselves in the murderous routine of the previously calm town of "Paradise." The game is renowned for its varied gameplay, allowing you to explore the open world and exploit a wealth of opportunities. Its second defining feature is overt violence and downright dark humor. This is one of the first games that allows you to not only kill enemies (people and animals), but also do so with a particular cynicism and bloodthirstiness. You can urinate on corpses, use a cat as a silencer, dismember and dismember bodies.
• Life after a nuclear explosion...
- First, it´s worth mentioning that this isn´t just a tiny DLC, cramming us with a few new missions, a couple of new guns, and other cheap content, whipped up in fifteen minutes. Paradise Lost turned out to be, in essence, a full-fledged sequel to the game (albeit on an old engine), also including a full "working" week and a completely new storyline. Of course, there will be new enemies, bosses, even more sophisticated weapons, and tons of dark humor. The expansion essentially returns us to the same rural streets and picturesque shops. The church, cemetery, zoo, laboratories, military camp—almost everything from the original will be there. The nuclear explosion has slightly altered the appearance of the town, though the landmarks will still be recognizable.
The most interesting thing was the design of the post-explosion zones. From a large distance (at the beginning), there is almost nothing to indicate the disaster that occurred. The only thing you´ll see are the locals´ rags and Mad Max-style leather jackets. A little closer, you might run into robbers who´ll try to rob you (naive people), or even a nuclear winter. Up close, Paradise will resemble the locations on the approaches to Pripyat, with soldiers in hazmat suits scurrying back and forth and buildings scorched by radiation.
